The loveliness of it all

The word that comes to my mind when looking back on the images from this shoot and the location is lovely. I think it describes the sweet couple in them too.

(get ready for a long one)

These images were taken yesterday at The Brookwood Community,
a non-profit residential facility and vocational program for adults with disabilities.

They are located on hundreds of acres in the countryside of Brookshire, Texas, affording us many beautiful places to take pictures. And they also host weddings! I am grateful that they were so willing to let us use their grounds for this bridal shoot. I just love how they turned out.

60 Years

These are my sweet grandparents.  I took these pictures a few years ago for their 60th wedding anniversary.  I went through them again because I've been thinking about some things.  You can read more about that here.

In the meantime, enjoy.
This was one of my favorites to shoot.

“I am satisfied that happiness in marriage is not so much a matter of romance as it is an anxious concern for the comfort and well-being of one’s companion. Any man who will make his wife’s comfort his first concern will stay in love with her throughout their lives and through the eternity yet to come”
-Gordon B. Hinckley

For those of you who don't like getting your picture taken...

I liked this. And I kind of giggled when I read it.

{Thousand Oaks,CA} Senior Pictures

Dylan is the younger sister of one of my best friends from high school, who is now living a few states away.  We took these in the hills in my hometown, along trails where I used to go hiking and bike riding growing up.  I loved being back there.    I had a lot of fun with Dylan and her mom during the shoot, and it was so fun to see how much Dylan looks and acts like her older sister.  It definitely made me miss her!

A Reason for Cake

I get to see a lot of wedding cakes in this business,

and I love it.

I love seeing so many beautiful, unique ways of baking and decorating
with just a few simple ingredients.

This is a cake at a wedding I shot recently.
I love the simplicity, yet intricacy about it.
It fit perfectly with the rustic style of her wedding.

This cake was done by Genevre, author of the blog, reasonforcake.blogspot.com

Her work on all kinds of cakes is incredible.
The amazing thing is, she taught herself and does it mostly just for fun.

The prettiest of them all. Salt Lake City, Utah

They got married in the prettiest of castles,
                                                              a temple.

And, they're pretty much adorable.

A temple is a house of God.
And a beautiful place to be.
